Kentucky Fried Chicken has been under fire for many things. There is of course the calorie content in their food. There is also the bad press by Pamela Anderson due to the way the chickens were handled before they got killed. I don’t know how humane killing a chicken is anyways, but apparently it’s worse with Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Bad press aside, not many of us meat eating humans out there can resist their chicken. A bucket of chicken is the best thing in the summer with a side of mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, and biscuits. A summer picnic in the park is not complete without having a family sized meal to enjoy.
A dear friend had recently given me a recipe for Kentucky Fried Chicken’s original chicken. I am told there is chicken in the recipe. The chicken is a given I suppose. There is water. There is salt. There is milk. There are eggs. There is flour. There is Accent, which is MSG. There is black pepper. There is soybean oil to cook the chicken in.
You need to get 2-3 pounds of chicken pieces. You put the chicken in salt water to soak for a half hour. Mix the flour, salt, pepper, and accent in another bowl. You need to pre-heat the deep fryer to 350 F. You can also place in a skillet with oil if you wish. Dry the chicken in paper towels. Dredge in flour mixture, put in milk and eggs, then back into flour mixture. Do this with each individual piece of chicken to make sure it’s being evenly distributed.
KFC uses pressure cookers to fry their chicken, but this can be dangerous if done at home. If you use a deep fryer, fry only a few pieces at a time for twenty minutes, covered, turning occasionally. If pan frying, do it for thirty minutes and keep it covered. Make sure you’re turning occasionally. Be sure you check the inside to know if your chicken is done or not. Allow the chicken to drain on paper towels when the chicken is completed.
I am not totally sure if the recipe is the real recipe, but I will say it tastes a lot like the stuff you can get in the fast food chain. You should try it for yourself. It’s a lot of fun.
Now, the tricky thing about the article title is that it doesn’t say what Kentucky Fried Chicken recipe they are referring to. I have the other recipes for KFC, but the original crispy chicken one is the best. The flakey and greasy skin on the chicken is something that can’t be beat. The chicken itself is tasty and just the right texture.
