2010 Chef & Market Lunches

–A series of chef-guided tours of  the fabulous Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, followed by a chef-guided cooking demonstration and lunch.

You can read more about it here, on the Buffalo Niagara Convention & Visitors Bureau website

Our guests discovered the beauty of one of our favorite urban farmers markets by joining us for one of three Chef & Market Lunches offered by Feed Your Soul.

We started each adventure by meeting at the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, where we took a tour led by food writer Christa Glennie Seychew (owner of Feed Your Soul) and one of her chef friends. During the tour we met some of the farmers and vendors, spoke about their growing methods and seasonal offerings and sampled some of their wares. The chefs answered questions about some of the more unique vegetables and fruits sold at the market, offering tips for both storing and preparing them.

Throughout each tour, the group, with the guidance of our chef, gathered the freshest seasonal ingredients before proceeding down the street to Delish, Elmwood’s favorite cooking demonstration school and bakery. At Delish, our chef for the day led us through a lunch preparation using all of our market purchases. Finally, we sat with cold iced tea and our fresh, farmers market meal and enjoyed one another’s company. This remarkable series sold out very quickly and we look forward to presenting it next year! Thank you to Chef Steven Gedra of Bistro Europa, Chef Jim Guarino of Shango and Chef Kate Elliott for sharing their work with us.
